Brookwood Primary School

Together We Achieve

Welcome

A Welcome from the Headteacher

Welcome to the Brookwood Primary School website. It is designed to give you a sense of our school, the team that works here and, most importantly, an overview of the activities and curriculum which our pupils enjoy all year round.

Brookwood pupils live in the village of Brookwood and outlying areas including Pirbright Army Camp.  Valuing everyone’s achievements and in a caring atmosphere is central to everything we do in school. We encourage everyone to share concerns, questions and ideas. So please come and talk to us; we will listen.

We are proud of what our pupils achieve and the family atmosphere of our small village school. We have an emphasis throughout the day on our learners acquiring the knowledge, skills and attitudes which they need to lead productive lives as local, national and global citizens. Our core curriculum develops strong intellectual, creative and physical skills. We use the International Primary Curriculum to pose challenging questions within themes which interest the children and encourage them to seek out new knowledge, to think for themselves and to apply their learning. Our Forest School and extra-curricular clubs add to the mix and together, these provide each child with a range of experiences which prepare them for the challenges of life beyond school and an appreciation of their world.

There is a friendly, hard-working atmosphere in school where adults and children all work together to make the very best of their individual skills and talents. We lay great emphasis on children being responsible for themselves, including their behaviour and making the right choices. Behaviour and rewards are built around the Brookwood 6.

We have extensive grounds which include a playground, wooded area, playing field, wildlife pond and an allotment. We recently added outdoor activity trails, a stage and quite seating areas. Our modern sports hall, complete with stage lighting and a sound desk, is in use throughout the day.

A strong home/school partnership is important in supporting children to achieve their best and we encourage parental involvement in all aspects of school life. This helps us in our work as well as providing parents with an insight into everyday school life.

For new parents, we look forward to working with you. For new pupils, we will help you have a happy and successful time with us. For existing pupils, we want you to know how proud we are of you!
