School Garden Update - 22nd September 2020
It’s been a wonderful summer of warm weather with very little rain. The remaining plants in our garden have had to be watered every few days and are now almost at the end of their season. With the cooler weather approaching we had decided to remove the runner beans and sunflowers from outside the Children’s Centre but changed our minds when we saw them. The runner beans were covered in flowers and baby beans and the sunflowers were still out in bloom, both plants attracting numerous bees and other insects. We have tidied up the planters at the front of the school too but these will need to be emptied soon and replanted with autumn bedding and spring bulbs.
Our plans for the school garden have been further boosted by a grant from the Surrey Gardens Trust and we are currently considering how best to spend the money we have raised and been given to benefit the children and school.
