STEM Week in Year 6
In year 6 this week, as well as reading and writing about more of our class book, Tom Sawyer, the children have been investigating a variety of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) activities.
On Monday the children researched 'Forces and Magnets' and created their own penny-run using clear plastic bottles. On Wednesday they spent the afternoon creating a marble run from recycled materials, using friction to extend the timing of the decent – the longest run took 7 seconds from top to bottom!
Finally, on Thursday the class explored how changing the shape and tilt of the wings of a paper aeroplane, can change the plane's direction, improve the lift and extend the glide.
