Brookwood School is a single form entry primary school. Each class has up to 30 children from a year group between the ages of 4 and 11. The school was founded in 1906, with the site and the main building dating from this time. It has been added to over the years; as examples, junior pupils enjoy large classrooms purpose built in the 1970s and the Sports Hall was added in the late 1990s.
We have beautiful school grounds which include a large playing field, a woodland area which is brilliant for shade in the summer, a wildlife pond and a range of adventure play equipment. Brookwood Primary School has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and the children mix well through the year groups as well as with their own peers.
Every year, pupils elect their School Council representatives. Through School Council, pupils have the opportunity to have their say on current issues and suggest ways to improve their school. A formal application process takes place to select Playground Buddies, who ensure playtimes are enjoyable for everyone. Candidates for House Captains take part in hustings and elections to lead one of three school houses: Green, Blue and Red. Each child in school belongs to one of the houses, gaining house points throughout the year. Many sporting and other school events allow the house teams to compete, which encourages collaboration across the year groups. The House Point Cup is awarded weekly and at the end of each half term, the winning house is rewarded with a celebratory ‘mufti-day’ which creates huge anticipation and great excitement!
