A Welcome from the Headteacher
Welcome and thank you for visiting the Brookwood Primary School website. We are immensely proud of our school, the passionate team that works here and the exciting curriculum and other activities which our children enjoy all year round within a nurturing, friendly and family-oriented environment.
Ofsted visited our school in September 2018 and we were thrilled to be graded Outstanding for our Early Years Provision, Outstanding for Behaviour, and Outstanding for our children’s Personal Development and Welfare, with an overall judgement of Good. Our children work with focus, purpose and ambition, embracing opportunities and benefiting from a wide range of enrichment activities.
We have an emphasis throughout the day on supporting our children to master the knowledge, skills and values which they need to lead productive lives as local, national and global citizens. Our core curriculum develops strong intellectual, creative and physical skills for our children. Using the International Primary Curriculum, we pose challenging questions around themes which interest the children, and through this, we encourage them to seek out new knowledge, to think for themselves and to apply their learning.
Our well-established Forest School programme offers a variety of enrichment opportunities, where all our children learn to embrace our local environment. We offer a range of extra-curricular clubs to further enhance the children’s learning and expose them to new and interesting opportunities. We provide each child with a vast array of experiences, all of which prepare them for the challenges of life beyond school and an appreciation of their world.
We highly value the strong, respectful and purposeful relationships between our staff and children as they work with enthusiasm together to make the very best of each child’s individual skills and talents. We have a well-established and highly effective behaviour and rewards system which is built around our Brookwood 6 values. These are integral to our school ethos. We lay great emphasis on our children building their confidence and independence, becoming responsible for themselves and making the right choices.
Our stunning and extensive grounds include a playground, wooded area, playing field, wildlife pond and a dedicated Forest School zone. The children love our outdoor activity trails, the outdoor stage and quiet seating areas. Our modern sports hall, complete with stage lighting and a sound desk, is in use throughout the day.
We encourage parental involvement in all aspects of school life and operate an open door policy for parents to come and talk to us about their child and their experiences of our school. We are a school that listens, and we encourage discussions, questions and ideas. We feel that a strong home/school partnership is so important in supporting children to achieve their best, while also providing parents with an insight into everyday school life.
We hope you will contact the school with any queries and come in and see us any time. We would welcome the opportunity to show you our school and talk to you about our plans for the future.
For new parents, we look forward to working together with you to support your children during their time at Brookwood. For new pupils, we look forward to meeting you and we know you will have a very happy and successful time with us!
For our existing pupils, we want you to know how proud we are of you!
Thank you for visiting!
